Τhe Cyprus Human Resource Management Association (CyHRMA) organised two successful breakfast meetings on the subject “Performance Management Through KPIs”. The first meeting was held at the University of Nicosia, in Nicosia (10/11/2016) and the second one at the Cyprus College in Limassol (17/11/2016). Participants were mainly HR professionals, with participation from also General Managers and Entrepreneurs. Presenter was Mr. Panayiotis Thrasyvoulou, Member of the CyHRMA Board and Managing Director of Onwork HR & Strategy Advisory Ltd, a company focusing on the provision of consulting services.
The topic of the meetings was chosen by the CyHRMA Members through the Member Satisfaction Survey, rating it as a major issue.
The presentations mainly covered the following topics:
– Definition and differences between Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Results Indicators (KRIs)
– The importance of using indicators for monitoring the progress of the targets (KPIs) and for assessing the level of targets’ completion (KRIs)
– Performance management systems’ historical evolution: from reporting towards development
– Incorporating performance indicators in the performance management systems: the use of KRΙs during the performance appraisal and the use of ΚΡΙs during the coaching meetings
Since participants came from various types of organizations, they had the opportunity to share experiences, specific indicators they use as well as specific concerns with regards to performance management. This exchange of views and experiences made the two breakfasts meetings very valuable.
According to the feedback received, both meetings were very useful for the participants and the topic was topical. Also, the feedback indicated that the CyHRMA should consider the possibility of organizing other similar meetings in the future since the topic was not exhausted. Future meetings, based on the feedback, may last longer and give the opportunity to participants to fully present their own case.
