In November the 20th, 2013 the CyHRMA in cooperation with the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) organized a lecture open to the public on the topic of “Τhe Ingredients to a Successful Interview”. Between 60 to 70 participants attended for the duration of approximately one and a half hours. The aim of the lecture was to provide participants useful tips and information for the best possible presentation of themselves during job interviews, in order to increase their possibility for hiring.
Three members of the Association were the main speakers of the seminar: Mr Ζacharias Ioannou, Consultant/Trainer on HRM and Employee Relations issues, Mr Κyriacos Αndreou, HR Manager at Diapo & Tryfon Tseriotis, of the Tseriotis Group and Treasurer of the CyHRMA Board, and Mrs. Vicky Charalambous, Recruitment and Performance Development Manager at Papaellinas Group of Companies, also Member of the CyHRMA Board in the position of Representative of Publications and Communication.
To begin with, Mr Ioannou mentioned and highlighted the importance of communication, partly as a desirable labour market skill and partly as a tool for promoting candidate competencies and advantages. Following on from that, Mr Andreou presented and analysed some of the desired and required skills that today’s employers look for, such as commercial acumen, team-spirit, self-motivation, being driven by results and being target-focused. Finally, Mrs Charalambous developed the importance of Positive Psychology and the role positive thinking, emotions and behaviour can play in achieving better performance during the interview process and generally in empowering the whole job hunting phase. She also explained ways and strategies for reinforcing positivity in our personal and working lives.
The presentation ended with a Questions and Answers session, discussion and exchange of views.
