ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2024

The Αnnual General Meeting of the Cyprus Human Resource Management Association (CyHRMA) was scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 17:00 at the Semeli Hotel in Nicosia.

The Assembly commenced at 17:30 with an address by Ms. Eleana Agrotou (Board Member and Secretary of CyHRMA). She referenced the minutes of the previous Annual General Assembly, held on June 26, 2023, which were unanimously approved by the attendees. This was followed by the Board of Directors’ Report for the June 2023–June 2024 period, presented by Ms. Maria Georgiou (Board Member and President of CyHRMA).

Key Points from the Board of Directors’ Report:

Membership Growth: Membership increased from 634 in 2023 to 665 in 2024.

Events and Activities Organized or Participated in:

  • September 28, 2023: Networking event “Drinks with the Board” at Artigiano, Nicosia, with over 100 participants.
  • October 11, 2023: Webcast in collaboration with Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS) titled “HR Reporting & Metrics in Recruitment, Selection & Retention.”
  • October 9-11, 2023: Ms. Vicky Charalambous attended the EAPM Delegates Assembly in Portugal, where Cyprus was selected to host the 2024 Delegates Assembly.
  • November 1, 2023: Seminar on “Workplace Wellbeing: Effective Strategies,” co-hosted with the Institute of Development and GrantXpert Consulting, attended by over 90 participants.
  • December 7, 2023: Charity event in collaboration with PASYKAF (Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends), attended by 80 participants, with proceeds donated to PASYKAF.
  • April 11, 2024: Professional breakfast on “Upskilling/Reskilling Now!” in partnership with the Cyprus Productivity Centre (CPC) as part of the European Year of Skills initiative.
  • May 23, 2024: Annual Conference held in Nicosia, attracting over 250 attendees.
  • Supported Events: The association supported or attended multiple significant events, including the PASYKAF General Assembly (June 25, 2024), Great Place to Work Awards (May 17, 2024), INBusiness Awards (April 25, 2024), and others related to education and workforce development.

Strategic Direction: Strategic meetings of the Board led to a redefinition of the association’s vision and engagement with various stakeholders.

Surveys: Participation in and promotion of surveys such as the CPA Survey, Teleworking and Wellbeing Survey, and Future of Jobs Survey. Members were encouraged to contribute to the Creating People Advantage Survey.

Collaboration with Authorities: Strengthened ties with the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance and the Human Resource Development Authority (HRDA), focusing on telework legislation and gender equality.

Media Presence: Increased social media activity, podcasts with Human Asset, articles in professional magazines, and updates to the association’s constitution.

Financial Report:

The Vice President, Ms. Athina Neophytou, presented the 2023 financial report, which showed an increase in revenue, cash reserves, and surplus compared to 2022. The accounts were approved by the members present.

Constitutional Amendments:

Amendments to specific articles were discussed but not approved. Key discussions included:

Article 4d3: Proposal to reduce the required HR work experience from five years to three for affiliated members. The aim was to attract early-career professionals. Concerns were raised about maintaining membership standards and possibly creating a new membership category for such individuals.

Article 4d4: Similar to 4d3, this proposal faced similar feedback and was not approved.

Both proposals will be revisited by the Board with new suggestions.

The assembly concluded with a presentation on teleworking and wellbeing by Mr. George Phylactou (Board Member), followed by a cocktail reception.
