ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2023

On Monday 26th of June 2023, in the presence of 69 Members, the Annual General Meeting of our Association was held at the Semeli Hotel, in Nicosia.

The Annual General Meeting was commenced by Ms. Maria Georgiou and the Minutes of the previous General Meeting of 2022 were approved by all the present members.

An account of the events and activities of the period June 2022 – June 2023 followed, presented by the President of the association, Mrs Elena Stavrinou. She referred to the Members of the Association, which now amount to 634 compared to 624 in 2022.

Mrs Stavrinou referred to the Events /Activities organized by the Association:

  • On 4/5/2022 our Association participated in the Cyprus Career Expo 2022, where the President of the Board, Mrs. Elena Stavrinou, addressed a greeting and participated in the panel with the theme “Work, Rework, Metawork: Transforming dynamics of the workplace.”
  • The 30 years of the Association were celebrated with a gala dinner on 19/05/2022 where the Presidents of all the previous Boards were honored.
  • On 30/5/2022, the Members had the opportunity to attend the European Online Seminar “Let’s break down the barriers around cancer and work!” in the context of the Association’s cooperation with PASYKAF. organized by the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL)
  • On 2/6/2022, the “Equality Allies at Work” Program was completed where our Association participated as a partner organization, with a panel discussion with Ms. Elli Matsouka.
  • On 29/6/2022, the Association’s Annual Conference was held in collaboration with the University of Cyprus with distinguished speakers from Cyprus and abroad.
  • On 9/23/2022 the Association Members enjoyed the Networking event with the Board Members in Limassol.
  • The Association announced its collaboration with the AIHR Academy Organization, through a webinar on “How to future-proof your HR career by becoming T-shaped” on 15/10/2022.
  • On 22/11/2022 and 28/03/2023 in Nicosia and Limassol respectively, the Professional Breakfast organized in collaboration with PASYKAF was held with the theme: “Overcoming obstacles around cancer and work: The role of the Employer”.
  • The Annual Party of the Association was enjoyed by the Members on 19/01/2023 at Palaia Elektriki in Nicosia with more than 100 participants.
  • On 5/4/2023 the Association organized the webinar on “Managing Organizational Politics and HR – What you need to know!” and speakers Professor David Clutterbuck, Tim Bright and Dr Lise Lewis.
  • Finally, the CyHRMA Annual Conference 2023 was held in Nicosia on 18/06/2023 with great success and more than 215 participants.

Finally, Ms. Elli Matsouka invited the attendees to participate in the Creating People Advantage Survey organized by Boston Consulting and the European Association for People Management (EAPM), where Cyprus is represented by our Association, stressing the importance of participation. Also, Mrs. Stavrinou thanked Christiana Christofi and her team, who volunteered to be a facilitator in two strategic workshops organized by the Board and helped define and prioritize the goals of the Association.

Subsequently, the Treasurer of the Association, Mr. Marios Christoforou, presented the Financial Report and the audited financial accounts of 2022, which were approved by the present Members. Mr. Christoforou commented on the picture of the Financial Statements stating that there was an increase in revenue, cash and surplus compared to 2021.

Additionally, it was announced that the Association renewed the agreement with the existing auditors, Mr. Demetris Demetriades and Mr. Gregoris Demetriou for one more year (financial audit period 01/01/2023 – 31/12/2023) and this was also approved by the present  Members.

This was followed by the revision of specific articles of the Statute and the promotion to Honorary Members of Giorgos Pantelides, Maria Theodorou, Panagiotis Thrasyvoulou and Giorgos Ashikkalis.

The work of the Annual General Meeting was completed with the Elections. Elena Stavrinou, Maria Theodorou and Marios Christoforou have supervised the election process and have carried out the counting of the ballots.

It is noted that there were 68 ballots, of which one was considered invalid, which were valid and the voting results showed the Members of the new Board of Directors with the most votes as follows:

Member Responsible for International Relations: Dr Vicky Charalambous (Institute of Development & CARDEΤ)

Member, Responsible for Research & Technology: Mr George Phylactou (CYTA) 

Member Responsible for Events: Ms Miranda Archontidou (Playtech)
