On the 30th of March 2016 the Cyprus Human Resource Management Association (CyHRMA) in collaboration with the University of Cyprus organized a lecture for the University students on the subject “Job Hunting Techniques”. The lecture speakers were Mrs Elena Christou Zeniou and Mr Demetris Vassilakkas, both active Members of the Association.
The aim of the presentation was to help participants increase their odds of getting their dream job.
Mrs Christou Zeniou opened the presentation by mentioning the “hidden job market” – social networking and the development of a professional network. Important relevant points are the identification of interests, skills as well as the type of organization to which one wishes to work. Then Mr Vassilakkas mentioned the importance of preparing an attractive CV and Cover Letter which should be clear and include all relevant information. Both lecturers emphasized that preparation prior to a job interview is the key to success.
During the lecture, practical examples were given to the students while at the end of the presentation participants had the opportunity to resolve their queries in a Q & A session.
